I started playing the guitar as a freshman as a way of getting out of band class and thinking that it would impress girls, same reason I took french in high school. Then you get into wanting to write songs because you don't just want to be playing the same bob dylan songs all the time, I managed to turn that into a 10 year thing.
I was never good at writing songs, not original enough, all the songs I tried to write were based around other structures just with the words changed, essentially bob dylan songs but with different lyrics. Back to my main point, I am not original, and that is ok. I can accept that my mind is almost completely referential. Originality and creativity are not synonymous I think. Being a creative person isn't based upon how groundbreaking you can be, I don't know what it is based on but I feel that as long as someone can take something and expand on it while making it their own they are on the right path.
